The Faculty of Letters, History, Philosophy and Theology yearly organizes
The Romanian Language, Culture and Civilization Summer School.

For this year’s edition we propose a face-to-face format Summer School.

The courses address all foreigners interested in the Romanian language and culture, in particular students who study Romance Languages, translators, cultural promoters, employees who work for companies having a direct contact with Romania etc.

In 2025, the Summer School will be organized between July 14th and 26th.

What do we offer?
● The possibility to study or to improve your Romanian language, using digital instruments and up-to-date teaching techniques.
● A team of well-prepared and open to dialogue teachers.
● Introduction to Romanian studies, focusing on intriguing historical and regional cultural issues, starting from the unquestionable multi-cultural and multi-ethnic tradition of Timișoara.
● Language courses organized at three levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced) and targeted at improving speaking skills (conversation) and practice.
● Several cultural activities which will be held and which aim at discovering the country and the Romanian people.
● Several cultural activities will be located in Timișoara (a city which was one of the European Capitals of Culture in 2023) and in the Banat region.
● The chance to interact with people interested in Romania and to make new friends.

The number of hours:
● 40 hours of Romanian Language (teaching-learning: 4 hours daily).
● 20 hours of supplementary learning activities: Romanian language workshops (conversation and vocabulary; oral discourse; written communication), cultural workshops.

What does a daily schedule look like?
Monday-Friday:
Intensive language courses – 9.00-11.00
Break – 11.00-11.30
Intensive language courses – 11.30-13.30
Break – 13.30-17.00
Romanian language workshops (conversation and vocabulary – beginners; oral discourse and written communication – intermediate and advanced) / culture-oriented workshops held – 17.00-19.00

Costs
Tuition fee (face-to-face format): 750 EUR
The tuition fee covers: the courses and the supplementary learning activities, the materials used, visits, accommodation in one of the university’s hostels (for those who choose this).
Tuition fee payment: after receiving the answer of acceptance from the organisers.

Deadline: June 1st 2025
Deadline for the tuition fee payment (in the account indicated in the form and on the website): June 2nd-8th 2025.
